On Debian, we install the Nagios Plugins to /etc/nagios/plugins. This has some disadvantages especially for development environments, where everyone needs to manually copy plugins to /etc/nagios/plugins or manually create symlinks.
In order to fulfill needs of developers for an automatic update of plugins and needs of administrators for reliably determine the origin of files, I purpose:
- On Debian Install plugins into a subfolder of /usr/share/openattic
- Install a symlink for each plugin to the corresponding file in /usr/share/openattic
- Enhance the backend to create missing or fix wrong symlinks.
RPM Packages already create symlinks to the plugins in /usr/share/openattic.
